This Focused Performance Weblog started life as a "business management blog" containing links and commentary related primarily to organizational effectiveness with a "Theory of Constraints" perspective, but is in the process of evolving towards primary content on interactive and mobile marketing. Think of it as about Focusing marketing messages for enhanced Performance. If you are on an archive page, current postings are found here.

What is the Question? -- From a good paper on questions. . . "It comes as a shock to discover that in the real world, the difficulty is not to solve the problem, but to find out what the problem is. The solution to a problem, or the answer to a question, are treated here as equivalent. As Dr Deming put it "The questions are more important that the answers". When we
asked him why, he said that there is seldom one right answer, but there usually is one key question to ask." -- I like the three questions of management, but Deming has a point. (Big of me, eh?)

Business practices drive the IT industry"The obvious conclusion is that IT people working closely with businesspeople can make a big impact on productivity. But this does not happen as often as it should because the technology is still too cumbersome to adapt to fluid business models.
"The truth is, the simpler something is, the more successful it will be." Amen.
