Plan the Process -- In a recent thread on the NewGrange discussion list, Bruce Thomas offered the following gem...
"This type of project is much like an R&D project -- and many will say that you cannot plan them. I have worked on many and discovered that you can, as long as you remember that you are planning the process rather than the outcomes (by definition, unknown)."
Planning and predicting is about the dynamics; not necessarily the details.
