And We're Off -- October on the Road

Eastward, I mean Westward...uh... North and Southward (over the pole) Ho!

Lois and I are off on our delayed since 2002 return to Hong Kong and environs. Thanks to the wonders of free wifi access, I can start with my first report from the Continental Presidents Club, boring you gentle readers with a report from wonderful Newark Airport.

And I've got plenty of time to do so. While my philosophy about travel is that I skew to the early arrival end of the spectrum, preferring to sit in airports than run through them, Lois usually insists on even earlier. So here we are settled, shoe-shined (my usual airport splurge), and sitting about 2 1/2 hours before the flight. (Exciting, eh?)

The only excitement to report so far (if I ignore Lois' concern about the 80-85 mph pace taken by the limo driver) was in the wonderful world of TSA. After doing the usual silly swabbing of my Powerbook, the security professional opens it, closes it before it gets a chance to start up, and then when handing it back to me, tripped the battery latch, sending the battery scootering across the floor. No big deal. After reinserting and rebooting, my trusty old first gen titanium Powerbook started like a champ, allowing me to send this scintillating missive to the three people who read this blog.

Anyway, we're on our way. Next stop...boarding the 777 for the 15 hour flight.
