Battlestar Galactica Podcast Commentary
I often find myself interested in what one might term "meta-information" -- information about information. As much as the news, I like to follow shows like NPR's On the Media and CNN's Reliable Sources (not to mention Jon Stewart's The Daily Show).
Back when the TV Science Fiction classic Babylon 5 was in production, I followed a newsgroup featuring the creator's comments about bringing that show to the air and about its themes.
I've usually seen the movies that are on the DVDs I buy, and find myself disappointed when a favorite doesn't have at least one full length commentary.
As a science fiction fan, the Sci-Fi Channel's new series, Battlestar Galactica's first few episodes indicate the promise of a quality show. One of the things that the producers is doing to support the show (in addition to a blog) is to put together episodic "podcast commentaries". The idea is to grab the mp3 from their site, turn down the TV sound (after you've watched the show once through first), plug in your iPod (or other mp3 player), and listen to producer/creator Ronald D. Moore discuss his work. Cool.
